What the budget has in store for business owners in the food industry
As the Federal Minister for Small Business, Kelly O’Dwyer, so eloquently put it on the ABC’s Q&A program on May 9, tax cuts from 1 July this year will give businesses access to instant asset write-offs. Illustrating a point about tax breaks for small-business people, she gave the example of a café owner with a turnover of $2 million who could now invest in a $6000 toaster which would see him drive up revenue and employ more staff.
MEET OUR CATERLINK TEAM
The Caterlink Chefs Club has been set up to give chefs the chance to meet, share information, network, eat good food, drink good wine and generally relax in an atmosphere of friendship.
There has been a lack of a chefs’ club here in Perth over the last few years. That is perhaps why we have already attracted 110 professional chefs from Perth and a few from rural WA to our last 3 dinners.
The fact that we can make a significant contribution to community based projects is a strong reason to get together. Supplier contributions, media, backing from management etc. have all helped to launch Ronald McDonald House gift registry, made over 8000 meals for those less well off than ourselves (5000 meal program) and be able to back charities such as Telethon with funds from the dinners are just some of the very generous nature of the chefs attending these get togethers.
Each month a newsletter containing a calendar of demonstrations, dinners, special events is sent out to the 110 chefs who have been invited to be on the mailing list.
